The Staff of the van Zieks Manor

Your ultimate guide to who's who and what they do!

"Wait, what the hell is all this???"

This, sweet reader, is a list of characters, created originally for the hit sensation *ahem* extensive fanfiction series ~The Canon~, of the people who work at the van Zieks Manor. Because, as it turns out, when you're a Lord of high standing in the Victorian era and live in a full on manor (canon), you're gonna need at least some staff to keep your household going.Who knew?But since Capcom didn't provide, we sure as hell did! A full 13 of them! And they're all queer. :) Of course, 13 brand new characters is a lot to keep track of, so we decided to make your lives, our dearest readers, easier by compiling together short profiles of all the current members of the van Zieks Manor staff, presented here in order of how much I love them long they've been employed.(also while the Staff was originally created for The Canon, they exist now almost as their own entities and as such they will surely also feature in other stories of ours! So that's another reason this is very handy, isn't it?)We're still working on some of the portraits, as well as the image descriptions, so please bear with us!

Emma Moore
Age: 51
Position: Head Stewardess
Employed in 1863Emma is the very bedrock upon which the van Zieks Manor has been built. She is a stern but kind person, a true matron, and was instrumental in raising Barok after his parents passed away in a carriage accident. She had, after all, been great friends with his mother, Diana, hired as her Lady's Maid during the time she was pregnant with him.She is in charge of all the day-to-day business of the Manor, as well as all the other business.

Fergus
Age: 50+ (nobody knows exactly)
Position: Coachman
Employed in 1871Fergus is a bit of an enigma, even among the staff, with the air of an average joe, but something more underneath. He's mellowed out with age, but used to be something of a madcap in his youth. (A curious hire by Klint van Zieks, considering the fate of his parents and the previous coachman...) He is, however, very good at driving.He is also in charge of the stables... and the stableboys.

Shirley
Age: 28
Position: Head of Maids
Employed in 1881Shirley is a feisty woman with a strong will and a loud mouth. She considers herself Emma's "second in command" and calls the maids "her girls". Thanks to her brash nature she often has petty arguments with the other staff (and Barok) but in the end they're still her family.

Alexander Klaine
Age: 49
Position:
Employed in 1886Born in Germany, Alexander studied culinary arts in France before moving to London. He was the first person Barok personally hired, after considerable trouble finding a job – his matter-of-fact speech and overt professionalism was considered rude by many of his previous employers, but for the Master of the van Zieks Manor it is nothing but a blessing. He does have quite a good sense of humour, when not in work mode.

Sebastian Blacke
Age: 30
Position: Butler
Employed in 1888Sebastian is the perfect upper class English butler: polite, poised, pretty, and very good at what he does. Unfortunately, he doesn't actually do much else but open the door, answer the phone, look good, and fuck Seamus silly so he doesn't burn the house down.That last one is the most important task in the entire household.

Seamus Gallagher
Age: 26
Position: First (and only) footman
Employed in 1888Seamus is a very friendly guy once you get to know him, but his explosive temper usually pushes people away before they get that far. He's gotten better with his anger issues since he started working at the Manor (even moreso after getting together with Sebastian) but he still often butts head with the others, especially with Shirley and Fergus.

Jennings
Age: 27
Position: Gardener
Employed in 1889Jennings is soft spoken and gentle, and with a thumb greener than anyone else, they are the sole person in charge of the Manor's huge garden – a massive undertaking, but they don't mind. Plants are easier to get along with than people, anyway.However, lately they've been spending quite a lot of time with the new stableboy...

Lily
Age: 18
Position: Maid
Employed in 1890Lily is a shy young girl from a very broken home, slow to open up, but an absolute ray of sunshine once she does. She was raised as a boy despite very much not being one, finally able to live her life true to herself now that she's been hired (read: adopted) by the Manor.She's half Indian, on her mother's side, though she's lived her whole life in London.

Myra
Age: 23
Position: Maid
Employed in 1891Myra is truly one of the lads, choosing to use a footman's uniform instead of a maid's dress. Despite this, she has no particular desire to be a man, simply using the clothes that feel more confortable. She is laid back and friendly, although her nonchalance hides behind it a long past of heartbreak.

Alice
Age: 20
Position: Maid
Employed in 1893Alice is a curious one, bright eyed and keen, always looking for new things to learn. Her bubbly personality is contageous, and she gets along well with everyone. She is quite skilled at sewing and harbours dreams of becoming a seamstress one day, opening her own boutique in the heart of London.

Rosemary Thyme
Age: 23
Position: Kitchen Maid
Employed in 1895Rosemary is the kind of girl who enjoys the simple things in life – good food, a warm stove, and a very sharp knife......... to better peel potatoes with! Being the only kitchen maid means there's a lot of work for her, but she doesn't mind, getting to spend time listening to Alexander's many tales. She likes making sweets more than savoury dishes, so she's usually the one in charge of dessert.

Basil Martin
Age: 22
Position: Stableboy
Employed in 1895Fergus's current stableboy, Basil is a quiet man with a calm demeanour. Very good with horses, but not so much people, often saying precisely the wrong thing after saying nothing at all for too long. Thus he prefers to spend his time in the stables and the garden, where he has found unexpected companionship with the gardener.

Hannah
Age: 16
Position: Maid
Employed in 1896The newest hire of the van Zieks Manor, Hannah is... trying her best! Hired only a few weeks before a certain Reaper of the Bailey returned to the courtroom, she suddenly found herself in much deeper than she had anticipated. Still, her determination and youthful vigour keep her pushing forward, and really, the Master isn't quite as scary as what he originally seemed.
